Fountain Pens

Since I first started collecting fountain pens in 2014, I have accumulated quite a few. Here are my current fountain pen picks for sketching:

Lamy Safari: This was my first decent pen (I didn’t like the Pilot Metropolitan and gave it to my boyfriend) and the Lamy has stayed by my side since the beginning. It was the pen that really taught me about fountain pens. My favorite part about this pen is the consistency in ink flow and line width. This is a reliable pen for an artist because if there is ink inside, you will always be able to draw without having any issues!

TWSBI Eco: A year ago, I was in the market for another pen that I could sketch with and my boyfriend surprised me with this pen for my birthday! It has been one of my go to pen’s since then. It’s got a HUGE ink capacity which is perfect for any artist and the design of it is amazing! You never get caught off guard without ink. Sometimes, I can’t get enough of this pen so I write in class with it.  I have a fine nib on it right now but I’m considering going up to a medium. That may add some interesting line work to my art.

Visconti Rembrandt: This is the fanciest pen I own; hence it doesn’t get taken out too often. I’m too afraid to lose it or break it. Man, it write’s well though! The Visconti is probably the smoothest writing/drawing experience I have had with any pen yet! It also feels very sturdy in your hand, like you aren’t just holding plastic. It also has a very sophisticated, yet casual look so you look pretty cool at the same time!

Noodler’s Ahab flex fountain pen: The flex on this pen is remarkable! Since I got this pen a year ago, I am still learning as to how to work it properly and I’m sure that’ll go on for a while. It’s a great pen for sketching but it has a learning curve and sometimes I forget about the flex if I’ve been using a different pen for a while.

That’s it for my fountain pens for now! Stay tuned for my fountain pen basics blog post, coming soon to a blog near you!
